Dinner at Outback Steakhouse

I picked Coconut Shrimp for our aussie-tizer. Dipped in beer batter, rolled in coconut and fried golden. Paired with their own Creole marmalade. That marmalade was intense in sweetness & tangy tart flavors. Watch out!

One of Outback Favorites, Baby Back Ribs (1/2). Each succulent rack is smoked, wood-fire grilled and brushed with a tangy BBQ sauce. Served with Aussie Sweet Potato Fries. The meat falls right off the bones just the way it should be.

I love citrus drinks. Their 'Rita Trio was perfect for me. Three 4oz samples of pomegranate, mango & lime in 100% Blue Agave Tequila. Definitely worth the $6.95.

I like the atmosphere. It was very relaxing & laid back. Our waitress was extremely friendly. Though I hope next time we will be seated in a much larger table because there were more food than what I posted on here.  I ate carefully so that I didn't knock over any of my drinks.

Phantom Gourmet Food Festival Boston 2011

My sister & I arrived at The Phantom Gourmet Food Festival before 12PM. Just minutes away from Kenmore Station. Before crossing the street, we realized there was a very long line that stretches around the corner. To the end of the line we went with anticipation. While we were waiting, this pamphlet was handed to us. A checklist to 85 Phantom's Favorites! Unfortunately, I didn't bring a pen. It was a good thing that I brought my camera to keep track of what I ate.

The 1st thing we noticed was that there were a lot of desserts...you can guess that I skipped that part until we spotted Yummies handing out candy bracelets!

It was about to get really crowded

They decided to have their wedding at Phantom Gourmet. 1st time in PG History?

We got out of the crowd and sweltering heat into the House of Blues (Yes, AC!)

I wished I can go back in time and revisit Ginger Betty's Bakery. There were so many sweets to sample and I only took a bite into one...☹ I can always visit them in Quincy, MA at least.

I wanted to grab this little gingerbread & vamoose! (^w^.)

1st time trying Coffee Break and it tastes AWESOME! I'll remember to make a stop to one of their locations in Quincy, MA. I recommend to read "How it All Began" on their site. I'm curious to see how their cafe is really like. I'll have to remember to make sure to bring my Phantom Gourmet Certified 1/2 OFF card

This was a refreshing treat. I noticed that a lot of people were grabbing samples but forget to grab "discounts". Next time I'm in the market, I'm getting a $1 off for my GaGa (^_-)☆

You would think 4hrs was enough time to sample everything but can you make enough room to try all the goodies? I tried 1 Red Velvet Key Lime from Cakes by Erin. Not too sweet just the way I like it. If only I had a box like the lady next to me. She was creating a meal on her plate...wait where did she get that? Next year I'm bringing Ziploc bags & a fold-able tote bag for the sweets. There were rules against bringing large bags & backpacks but I've seen plenty who made it inside.

Have you ever tasted a BEER INFUSED ice cream before? This one is fresh churned & hand crafted from The Sunset Grill & Tap (Best of Boston 2011). Too be honest, I wasn't impressed. It had an aroma of an Ale, but flavor wise it was mostly like any other ice cream. Don't let my opinion stop you from trying it though.

One of the most popular spots was Jasper White's SUMMER SHACK. There weren't enough clams for everyone during the last hour of PG Food Fest. As soon the clams were off the grill, a creamy sauce was poured onto it. I couldn't wait for it to cool down. It was so yummy that I endured the scorching flavor.

It was so generous of The Meat House to handle me their...sample size steak. I only took 3 bites and threw the rest away. Before you get upset, it was good but could of been great if we were given some sauce on the side like A1. I would have seriously eaten this all if I had a place to sit down to relax, but imagine walking in a huge crowd while it was 80°F. A lot of times we were told to stay off the side walks because we were supposedly blocking people from walking. From what I remembered, there were way more people on the streets than on the sidewalks. I was only on the very edge of the sidewalk too. Last thing I need is to cause trouble and get kicked out from my 1st PG Food Fest.

We heard the Meat Ball Eating Contest was about to began so we hurried on back. The House of Blues were packed with PG Phans!

That's Sonya Thomas a.k.a The Black Widow. She pwned the total of the 3 men with 41 meatballs. Looking back at that video, she drank a lot of water after each meatball! Beyoncé - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) was being played in the background. So tell me fellas, do you like woman who can eat? (Sonya weighs in at 105lbs).

My Sample from The Dining Car. I can't believe my sister didn't grab one. She told me that she was full. That was why I only took a few bites from each samples and especially when there were so many to eat.

Cherry Peppers stuffed with Provolone & Proscoitto Ham from Vega. I hope this is sold at my local market because I wanted more of these!

After a shot of Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee, we head on back to the House of Blues for the Grand Finale; So You Think You Can Dance with a Whoopie Pie Contest. Not sure if I want to upload the video to YouTube. I'm happy for the couple that won. Most of the time I'm heard from the crowd, "OMG!" "I can't believe she's doing that" "That's disgusting"...etc. Those comments were for the other team that didn't won.

There were more food I wanted to try but many were closing up since there were none left. I guess next year I'm going to have to eat & walk faster. I hope many more would join me on my Foodie Adventure.

His 4th Birthday :-)

My little man is officially 4 since yesterday. There were times he was a bit naughty but hey boys will be boys and besides it was his birthday. I started him off with a breakfast at The Neighborhood Restaurant & Bakery in Somerville, MA. When we 1st entered, I admitted that we felt a little lost. We thought that we had to wait to be seated but in this place you sit down at any empty table and be served with a cup of coffee, hot cocoa or orange juice. Very friendly service indeed.

Started off with some Fresh Fruits. You can never go wrong with that.

What's great for a cold rainy day? Something hot & sweet called Creamy Potato Soup. I really want to learn how to make this at home since Fall is here.

Sirloin steak, 3 eggs, Toast and Home-fries
This really tasted like a home cook meal. The fries were nicely season, which I think it didn't need any ketchup (I usually avoid using condiments to experience the full flavor). I ordered my steak medium rare (it always comes out medium well in most restaurants from my experience). Thankfully they added the lemon because I'm a huge fan to anything sour. The steak would be plain without it. I gave my eggs away to my son since it reminded him of how I make breakfast every morning (he's a big fan to my sunny side ups). I usually crack the eggs into a bowl, slide them slowly into a small nonstick pan, sprinkle some fresh chopped scallions evenly and then cover. After a few minutes, remove the cover, slide the eggs onto a plate, add some fresh ground black pepper and serve with rice. His favorites are usually the simple ones.

I didn't realize that my toasts were on another plate and it came with a muffin too!

My son's hair was a mess since he got that blue monster hat.

He loves the camera a little bit too much. His children plate; French Toast, Bacon and Home-fries. He didn't like his French Toast and didn't touch his bacon. I should have ordered him pancakes. He was more into my plate than his own. He always does this to me.

We waited hours just to get to Chuck E. Cheese. Traffic is so horrible around Boston and the neighboring cities. It's good to know that I got 150 FREE Tokens for the kiddies. As a Mom, you have to do your research!

Took nearly 40 minutes to receive this sampler. Seriously, it shouldn't take that long to cook this. I had starving guests!

It was nearly bedtime for him when we got home. I didn't want him to miss his chance on blowing out the candles on his birthday (Magic Candles HEHE). Thank god he didn't spit on the cake! It was funny to watch him blow out the candles. I'm so glad that I baked him a cake because it came out so good & heavenly moist.

He's truly my lil' monster<3

Chocolate Cake baked by a NOOB (Me)

Two more days and it'll be my Son's 4th Birthday so I decided to bake him a cake today. My second time baking a cake since last Friday. If you've been following my twitter then you know what happen to that cake. I bought a lock lid cake holder this time to keep it in a safe place or at least reduce the chances of being demolished by a toddler.

Finally bought a basic decorating set. I kept it basic with vanilla frosting as the decor especially since I'm a beginner..."NOOB".

This is my result. My 1st frosting decor. I know it looks really sloppy. I needed to use two hands to keep myself from shaking but it was annoying how I needed to turn the cake around as well. If only I had a turntable. I even forgot to buy wax papers & a cake board. I was planning to use those to have the chocolate frosting look flat. I read about it from an awesome blog called Sugar Sweet Cakes & Treats: Covering a Cake in Ganache. I'm planning a shopping list of supplies that can improve my baking experience. Practice makes Perfect.

My kind of Sandwich...sort of.

So that so called Tofu diet I was on before...it failed. Everyone is eating meat. Every cooking has meat included. I can't escape this carnivore world. Well at least I removed bacon out of my diet. Is that good enough? I kind of feel empty without bacon in this sandwich...

Tofu diet?

(Trying out this new blogger app for iPhone) I think I've been eating too much meat lately. My breakfast consisted mostly bacon, sausages & pancakes since it was quick & easy. I remember yesterday's lunch was 3 spicy buffalo wings, celery sticks & creamy caesar on the side. Reminds me of Friendly's appetizer when I think about it. So today I decided to have something healthy for lunch at Pho Minh Ky; Tofu Spring Rolls & Curry. I'm not too crazy about the Spring Rolls. The texture was too chewy if you asked me. Now the Curry that has Pineapple cubes & slices of tomatoes complimented the fried tofu. That was a vegetarian dish worth eating. I don't know the full Vietnamese name for the dish but it's #128 if you want to try it at Pho Minh Ky in Lynn.

Dinner at Union Oyster House

I often walked passed by this restaurant & bar but never had the chance to dine in until last night. It has an interesting history behind it. This was where the "toothpick" was first used. If you're curious, you should click on this link to read more about it on their website.

She was the main reason why I came out last night. I <3 my sister.

Oysters Rockefeller $15.50
Did you know that this mouthwatering dish was named after the wealthiest American at that time, John D. Rockfeller? It was for the richness of the sauce.

Very soft and melts in your mouth.

Ye Olde seafood Platter $28.95
Deep fried shrimp, Clams, Scallops, Calamari, Oysters and Fillet of Fish topped with Onion Rings

I thought I was getting onion rings? Well there were 3 or 4. Maybe they ran out of onions. Can't go wrong with crunchy fries. The fried seafood was too good. So good that I couldn't finish it because of the ITIS and also that my crave for seafood was no more.

Sautéed Seafood Medley $26.95
Shrimp, Cherrystones, Mussels, Fish and Calamari sautéed in a spicy marinara sauce, served over Linguine

My sister couldn't finish her plate so I helped her with that. This savory linguine alone was enough to wake up my taste buds. Maybe I wasn't full after all.

The night didn't start off great like the food. We had reservations and we were still waiting. Some of us thought about skipping to another restaurant but this was the place that my sister wanted to try. So much delicious food & laughter with good friends that we all forgot about the issue. So it was worth the wait.

Happy Belated Post?

I know I'm overdue for a post but if you've been following my twitter then you'll know that I was moving into a new apartment. Felt like I was walking for hunger for 20 miles. I've even slept on the floor during the 1st night. That lasted only 3 hours then it was back to unpacking again. I finally had my bed setup last night and believe me I KO (knock out) without waking up in the middle of the night. You can guess no home cook meals yet. Quick breakfast with a cereal bar. I'm taking my time to blog this now before I go back to being really busy again. So here's a quick recap of my birthday celebrations. Mainly food-porn. It was never my idea to celebrate but the people who cares about me. Thank You -Z

One of the best things about TGIF are their bread & cinnamon dip.

Skinny Lime Margarita...love it!

Boneless Buffalo Wings along with Rattlesnake Bites and Tater Skins

My sis looks tired. She just got out of work (Nurse)

Fail for me. Jin kept shaking the table. I usually shoot 3x per subject but this was the only one I found for Seaweed Salad.

I realized that I'm not a fan of martinis.

Salmon Wonton Chips: a fine mixture of salmon, tomatoes, onion and cilantro served with fried wonton chips

Can't remember what this was called. It was one of Fuji 1546 specials.

Volcano Roll!

This is supposedly my birthday cheesecake. At that time I felt that the dinner swing by way too fast. Not only that but my son kept bugging me to go use the bathroom.

Before I end this post I have some good news...my sis & I will be attending Phantom Gourmet this month. It'll be an awesome food porn galore!
